About

ASCC Now is currently an unincorporated non-profit organization, registered in the state of Texas. Our commitment is to promote awareness of orphaned cancers, and raise money for their research. Orphaned, or rare, cancers are those that each affect less that 200,000 people in the United States. Over half of all cancers are considered rare, leading to millions of affected people. Tragically, a majority of cancers in children are rare cancers. Because each cancer affects so few, they do not get the funding from government agencies that the “big” cancers receive. Additionally, because the market is simply not large enough for drug companies to profit, there is little private funding in the area either.

Started in 2009, ASCC Now strives to provide artists an opportunity to use their talents to support finding a cure for cancer. All items and time involved in creating these items for sale are donated. The purchase of any item on this site goes specifically towards research for a cure for cancer and putting on future events to promote research, spread awareness, and find support for those people whose lives this disease has touched.

This site was started by members of the Spencer Bell Legacy Project. Each of us had come to the legacy through experiences with cancer in our personal and family lives. Spencer Bell was a promising musician whose life was cut short by adrenal cancer. His loss ripped a hole in every life he touched and his story continues inspire people to do something to combat this awful disease. The bands 100 Monkeys, The Stevedores, Tin Tin Can, and Drew and the Medicinal Pen, all friends of Spencer Bell, are just a few examples of the people who have been touched by cancer in one way or another. This site is dedicated to providing an opportunity for all artists to contribute in the fight against cancer.

The proceeds from this site will go to cancer research, promoting awareness, and supporting those whom cancer has affected. Artists are encouraged to contact us to donate works to the site. Some donations will be one time sales because of the unique artwork involved while other areas have jewelry, engraved items, and other items that can be made to order. The organization supports any ideas as well so feel free to contact us with ideas for spreading the word and helping the cause.
